A foreigner detained on Sakhalin for promoting terrorism online

A number of social media posts promoting a terrorist organization banned in Russia and justifying terrorism were published a while ago. They were posted by a 40-year-old foreign citizen, a native of one of the Central Asian countries, who was residing in the Sakhalin region.

The Federal Security Service of Russia in the Sakhalin region suppressed his illegal activities. The investigative department of the law enforcement agency initiated a criminal case on the grounds of a crime as defined in Part 2 of Article 205.2 of the Criminal Code of Russia. The defendant in the criminal case was taken into custody.
