Propagandist and financier of Syrian terrorists sentenced to nine years in prison
The FSB Directorate for the Vladimir Region of Russia reported on the sentencing of a supporter of Islamic State (foreign terrorist organization which is banned in Russia). A 23-year-old migrant, a citizen of one of the Central Asian republics, was involved in serious crimes: public calls on the Internet to carry out terrorist attacks and propaganda of terrorism, as well as financing terrorist organizations.
According to security service officials, the supporter of a terrorist organization was distributing materials promoting the activities of Islamic State (foreign terrorist organization banned in Russia) in the public domain through the Telegram messenger.
Using the Internet, the man established contact with an ISIS member taking part in terrorist activities in the Syrian Arab Republic.
“During the conversation, the person involved took a decision to provide financial support for terrorists and transferred personal funds to purchase firearms for the militants of the Islamic State,” reports the FSB department for the Vladimir region.
The 2nd Western District Military Court found the young man guilty of the crimes charged against him (Article 205.2 and Article 205.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). He was sentenced to 9 years of imprisonment in a maximum security colony and deprivation of the right to engage in activities related to posting materials on the Internet for a period of 3 years.
