Hostage taker eliminated in Turkey
Police eliminated the man who took hostage seven employees of a Procter & Gamble plant located in a suburb of Istanbul. The governor of the Turkish province of Kocaeli Seddar Yavuz disclosed this to NTV television channel. All hostages have been released.
“They did what was necessary. The hostage taker was eliminated. He did not have time to do anything, as it happened instantly,” Yavuz said.
The man had a gun and an explosive belt, the governor indicated.
An armed man took hostages in the main building of the US-owned Procter and Gamble (P&G) factory in the Turkish province of Kocaeli on February 1 in the middle of the day. According to the preliminary data, he explained his actions as a protest against Israeli military operations in the Gaza Strip.
