Astana excludes the Taliban from the list of terrorist organizations to facilitate Afghanistan's integration into the global community
The removal of the Taliban (an organization under UN sanctions for terrorist activities) from the list of terrorist organizations by the Kazakh side will contribute to Afghanistan's integration into the global community, stated Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
Kazakhstan is aiding Afghanistan through channels such as the UN and other international organizations, Tokayev mentioned, as reported by NUR.KZ., Kazakhstan has removed the Taliban from the list of terrorist organizations to foster economic cooperation, he added. Astana believes that this step, along with efforts to establish the UN Regional Center in Almaty, will further facilitate Afghanistan's integration into the global community.
“We hope that it will also open up new opportunities for humanitarian support to the Afghan people,” he concluded.
Kazakhstan authorities removed the Taliban from the national list of banned organizations in December last year.
