CSTO reported on increase in the number of IS militants in Afghanistan
The number of militants of the Islamic State terrorist organization in Afghanistan has grown to 6.5 thousand. This was announced by the Chief of the Joint Staff of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) Anatoly Sidorov, writes RIA Novosti.
He further clarified that up to 4 thousand terrorists are concentrated on the southern borders of Tajikistan.
“In the Central Asian region, the main threat to stability comes from numerous extremist groups entrenched in Afghanistan,” Sidorov noted.
