A member of Hizb ut-Tahrir al-Islami sent to jail in Fergana

In the Fergana region, a participant in a religious extremist movement was sent to prison for seven years, a Podrobno.uz correspondent reports.

 

According to UzA, the Baghdad Criminal Court reviewed the case of Margilan native Vakhob Akramov and sentenced him to seven years in prison for participation in Hizb ut-Tahrir al-Islami religious extremist movement.

 

He joined this organization back in 1999. The first time he was caught distributing religious leaflets in public places and markets. He was prosecuted, found guilty of committing a crime under Article 159 (Attacks on the Constitutional Order) of the Criminal Code and received six years in prison as a punishment.

 

Upon his release, he and his family members illegally left for Kyrgyzstan. There he once again took the oath of allegiance to Hizb ut-Tahrir al-Islami, continuing his criminal activities related to the establishment of a caliphate state in Uzbekistan, and then throughout the world.

 

He met with other members of the organization, participated in “Khalka” meetings, recruited new members into the organization and provided religious teachings to new members.

 

In particular, he organized his own circle of followers of the group in the Baghdad and Buvaida districts of the Fergana region and trained them in the spirit of religious extremism.

 

Finally, law enforcement officers detained Akramov. The case against him was reviewed by the Baghdad Criminal Court. This time he was sent to jail for seven years.
