24 citizens of Tajikistan committed terrorist attacks in 10 countries over the past 3 years

President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon pointed to an increase in the number of terrorist attacks involving Tajik citizens.

“In recent years, the number of terrorist attacks by some Tajik citizens in other countries of the world has increased. These inhumane acts damage the reputation of the Tajik state and the Tajik nation globally. According to available data, over the past three years, 24 of our citizens in 10 countries of the world have committed terrorist attacks, including by blowing themselves in a  crowd of people,” the president said, speaking at a meeting with social activists, outreach workers and religious leaders of the country in Dushanbe on the eve of the sacred day for Muslims – beginning of the month of Ramadan. Rahmon pointed out that “suicide is not jihad, but a great sin that contradicts the teachings and principles of the Muslim religion.” “These actions are being planned by some interested groups and special agencies of some countries, which take advantage of the lack of education, inexperience and ignorance of some of our young people. We are aware of the selfish goals of the enemies of the Tajik nation and are taking all necessary measures to prevent them. These actions are carried out with the aim of discrediting the Tajik people and the Tajik state,” he said.
