18-YEAR-OLD GIRL SENTENCED FOR 5 YEARS IN JAIL FOR ATTEMPTING TO JOIN TERRORISTS IN SYRIA
An 18-year-old girl from Tashkent who planned to leave for Syria and join Daesh has received her sentence.
The State Security Service stated that a resident of the Yunusabad district of the capital fell under the influence of the ideological leaders of terrorist organizations in June last year, while listening to the sermons of Abdullah Zufar, Abdullah Bukhari and Sadiq Samarkandi on Telegram. The girl began to correspond with members of Daesh and decided to join them.
However, she failed to leave, as in March she was detained by law enforcement agencies. When her phone was searched, materials by Katiba Tawheed Wal-Jihad and the Islamic Jihad Union terrorist organizations were found. Their distribution is prohibited by law.
The girl was found guilty and sentenced to 5 years in prison.
