SCNS WILL ENGAGE MEDIA IN PREVENTION OF EXTREMISM AND TERRORISM. MEDIA PLAN TO BE CREATED
The Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan proposes the concept of a program to counter extremism and terrorism for 2023-2027. The project is submitted for public discussion. The executing agencies are the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the State Committee for National Security.
One of the paragraphs says that an important aspect in its implementation is the interaction of authorized public bodies with the media, regardless of their form of ownership. Directions were provided.
The authors plan to develop an information policy for the prevention of extremism and terrorism. It will be presented in the form of a media plan jointly developed by the Ministry of Culture, Information, Youth Policy and Sports with the methodological support of the authorized bodies for combating extremism and terrorism.
The media plan includes measures to raise awareness and prevent the extremist and terrorist threats. It is planned to attract experts, to allocate money for the training of journalists and specialists on coverage of issues related to countering terrorism and extremism.
Particular attention in promoting information policy will be paid to social media and instant messengers. It is indicated that the capabilities of the latter are actively used by extremist and terrorist organizations to spread their ideology, propaganda and carry out recruitment.
The authors emphasize that a key aspect in information policy is an objective and accurate coverage of issues related to combating extremism and terrorism, without any glorification of those involved in terrorism and discrimination on ethnic and religious grounds.
