Terrorist suspect detained in Aktau, Kazakhstan

Kazakh security forces detained a local resident in Aktau on April 1 under suspicion of preparing for a terrorist attack.

During a search of the detainee's house, officers seized components for making an improvised explosive device and other material evidence. The National Security Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan notes that he is a follower of radical religious ideology and was previously convicted of murder.

A pre-trial investigation is underway under Part 1 of Article 255 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
