PAKISTAN'S TALIBAN MOVEMENT REVOKES CEASEFIRE AGREEMENT WITH GOVERNMENT
The Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has canceled a ceasefire that was agreed with the Pakistani government in June and ordered its fighters to launch terrorist attacks across the country.
This is reported by the Express Tribune, citing a statement from the group.
In recent weeks, the TTP has been negotiating peace with the government. However, as the newspaper notes, the negotiation process has stalled due to a number of disagreements. Thus, the TTP refused to lay down their arms in case of a peace agreement.
The group said it had “showed unfailing patience” to achieve results during the dialogue. However, the TTP explains, the country's army and intelligence agencies keep conducting operations and attacks against the group. Now the faction calls to attack wherever “where there is an opportunity.”
