SCO countries called on Afghanistan to fulfill its anti-terrorism obligations

The secretaries of the Security Councils of the member countries of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) called on Kabul to consistently fulfill its obligations to combat foreign terrorist organizations, including those based in Afghanistan and significantly threatening the SCO states, the press service of the Russian Security Council reported.

 

The situation in Afghanistan was discussed among other issues during the meeting. “The heads of delegations called on the de facto authorities of Afghanistan to consistently fulfill their obligations in the field of counter-terrorism, especially with regards to suppressing the activities of foreign terrorist organizations and other groups that are based in Afghanistan and pose a serious threat to the SCO space,” the statement said.
