Penza resident will go to prison for sponsoring terrorism

The Central District Military Court sentenced a 23-year-old resident of the Penza region who sponsored terrorism.

The young man communicated on the Internet with a member of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham foreign terrorist organization what is banned in Russia and wanted to contribute to the overthrow of the government in Syria.

For this purpose, the Penza resident several times transferred money to his conversation partner.

A criminal case was opened on this fact. This local resident was detained and found guilty of promoting terrorism.

“A sentence of 8 years of imprisonment was imposed, with the first 3 years to be served in prison, and the remainder in a high-security correctional colony,” the press service of the Russian FSB Directorate for the Penza Region reported.
