Media: Taliban uncovered an ISIS cell and eliminated two militants
Security forces established by the radical Taliban movement, which seized power in Afghanistan, uncovered a cell of the Islamic State (ISIS) terrorist group and eliminated two of its members.
As the Afghan newspaper Hasht-e Subh reported, citing a representative of the police department of Kunar province, during an anti-terrorist operation on April 10, Taliban security forces eliminated two ISIS militants. They succeeded in detaining another terrorist; two weapons were confiscated from him; investigation is ongoing, the newspaper notes.
On March 21, a blast took place at a New Kabul Bank branch in the city of Kandahar in southern Afghanistan. As TOLOnews TV channel reported, the attack on the bank office was carried out by a suicide bomber. The Iranian Tasnim agency, citing local sources, reported that at least 19 people were killed and more than 20 were injured as a result of the attack. According to Al Jazeera, the Islamic State claimed responsibility for this attack.
