The tragic consequences of the large-scale armed conflict between Azerbaijan and Armenia over Nagorno-Karabakh at the end of 2020, when over 5,000 Azerbaijanis, Armenians and two Russian servicemen were killed, are still fresh in our memory. Many politicians and observers wondered why Russia, the CIS and the CSTO were unable to prevent or quickly suppress this fratricidal war? Moreover, just a short time before the conflict, on May 9, 2020, Moscow loudly celebrated 75th anniversary of the joint Victory of the Soviet People over Hitler's fascism; Azerbaijanis, Armenians, Russians and other Soviet people fought together for four years in the World War II.
An Afghanistan national, known as Basim, has been detained in Turkey. According to the Turkish security services, he headed one of the military structures of ISIS under al-Baghdadi.

The Afghan government could use the split within the Taliban to strengthen its position at home and abroad.
The international conference on Afghanistan, which was supposed to start in Istanbul on April 24, has been postponed: perhaps it will be held after the end of the holy month of Ramadan, but there is no certainty. Reuters sources say the conference has been postponed due to the Taliban's refusal to attend.
