WHITE PAPER: DUE TO ANTI-TERRORISM EFFORTS, THERE WAS NOT A SINGLE TERRORIST ATTACK IN XINJIAN IN MORE THAN 4 YEARS
Since the end of 2016, not a single terrorist attack has happened in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region in north-western China, according to the White Paper entitled “Respect and Protection of the Rights of All Ethnic Groups in Xinjiang,” published on Wednesday by the Press Office of the PRC State Council.
The infiltration of extremism has been effectively suppressed and the right to life of people of all nationalities has been fully protected in Xinjiang, where thousands of terrorist attacks were once planned and carried out, causing death of many innocent civilians and hundreds of police officers, according to the document.
The White Paper notes that Xinjiang attaches great importance to preventing and eliminating the sources of terrorism and is implementing preventive counter-terrorism measures, including the establishment of vocational education and training centers.
