39th meeting of the SCO RATS Council held in Tashkent

The 39th regular meeting of the Council of the Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO RATS) was held on April 7, 2023, in Tashkent (Republic of Uzbekistan), under the chairmanship of the Republic of Kazakhstan. It was attended by delegations of the competent authorities of the Republic of India, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the People's Republic of China, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, the Russian Federation, the Republic of Tajikistan, the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Executive Committee of the SCO RATS.

 

During the meeting, the Report of the SCO RATS Council to the Council of Heads of SCO Member States on the activities of the SCO RATS in 2022 was approved. The participants also considered information on the progress of the implementation of the Program of Cooperation of the SCO Member States in the field of Combating Terrorism, Separatism and Extremism for 2022-2024 in 2022. They gave a positive assessment to the activities of the Executive Committee of the SCO RATS in the past period.

 

A decision was made to conduct a joint information operation to prevent the use of the Internet for terrorist, separatist and extremist purposes.

 

It was agreed to hold the next joint anti-terrorist exercise of the competent authorities of the SCO member states called “Eurasia-Antiterror 2023” in the Kyrgyz Republic, the 9th meeting of the heads of border services of the competent authorities of the SCO member states and the 9th International Scientific and Practical Conference of the SCO RATS in 2023,

 

A draft Memorandum of Cooperation between the Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and the Anti-Terrorism Centre of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS ATC) was approved.

 

The title of Honorary Representative of the SCO Member State in the Council of the SCO RATS was awarded to the representative of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Aisha Farooqi.

 

A number of employees of the competent authorities of the SCO member states and officials of the Executive Committee of the SCO RATS were awarded for their personal contribution to the activities of the SCO RATS and the strengthening of interaction between the competent authorities of the SCO member states.

 

Decisions were made on issues related to the organizational aspects, human resources and finances of the Executive Committee of the RATS SCO.

 

An agreement was reached to hold the next meeting of the SCO RATS Council in the Republic of Kazakhstan.

 

The meeting of the Council was held in a productive and friendly spirit.
