Director of the SCO RATS Executive Committee met with the Deputy Minister of Information of the Islamic Republic of Iran

Director of the Executive Committee Ruslan Mirzaev met with the Deputy Minister of Information of the Islamic Republic of Iran Mr. Reza Lotfi on March 28, 2024 at the Executive Committee of the SCO RATS.

During the meeting, the parties strongly condemned the terrorist attacks committed on January 3, 2024 in the city of Kerman in the Islamic Republic of Iran and on March 22, 2024 in the Crocus City Hall building in the Moscow region of the Russian Federation. They expressed deep condolences to the families and friends of the victims and wishes for a speedy recovery to the injured.

The parties reconfirmed that the competent authorities of the SCO member states will continue to strengthen practical cooperation and build up joint efforts to eradicate terrorism.

Mr. Reza Lotfi emphasized the importance of the role of the SCO RATS in consolidating efforts and establishing practical cooperation on a multilateral basis to combat terrorism in the SCO space.

Director of the Executive Committee Ruslan Mirzaev commended on the fact that the representatives of the competent authorities of the Islamic Republic of Iran started to work in the format of the SCO RATS and on their active participation in ongoing expert meetings. He informed Mr. Lotfi about the main tasks, areas of activity of the SCO RATS Executive Committee and current areas of cooperation between the competent authorities of the SCO member states in the field of countering terrorism, separatism and extremism.

During the conversation, the Parties exchanged views on the manifestations of terrorism at the global and regional levels and discussed organizational and other issues in depth.

The meeting took place in an atmosphere of mutual understanding and constructive dialogue.
