Djenisbek M. Djumanbekov

By the decision of the Meeting of SCO Heads of States Council, Mr. Djenisbek M. Djumanbekov was appointed as the Director of the Executive Committee of SCO Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure serving a term from January 2010.

Born on November 11, 1945 inKazakhstan, Mr. Djenisbek M. Djumanbekov graduated from Moscow Technical College of Food Processing majoring in technical engineering and worked in the Ministry of Food Supply in Almaty.

Since graduation from Soviet KGB (the Soviet State Security Committee) Military Academy in 1972, Mr. Djenisbek M. Djumanbekov successively served as a scout and latterly played a leadership role. From 1986,he assumed the position of Deputy Director of Kazakhstan State Security Committee in Aktobe and Zhambyl.

From 1992,he was promoted to the Director of Kazakhstan State Security Committee in Zhambyl and in 1994, he was appointed as the first Deputy Chairman of Kazakhstan State Security Committee, and in 1995 Chairman of the Committee. In 1997, he was the Minister of Intelligence of Kazakhstan.

From 1999 to 2002, he successively served as permanent representative of Kazakhstan State Security Committee to Uzbekistan (Counselor) and permanent representative of Kazakhstan State Security Committee to Russia (Counselor and Minister Counselor).

From 2004 to 2009, he was appointed as the Deputy Director of the Executive Committee of SCO Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure responsible for executive, logistic and intelligence analysis affairs of the Committee.

He has a military rank of Lieutenant General, honorary officer of Kazakhstan State Security Committee and Grade 1 Counselor.

Medals conferred include Danker Grade 2 Medal (Kazakhstan), medals and credentials of Soviet and Kazakhstan, Honorary Medal of Soviet KGB.
