Ruslan Mirzaev

Ruslan Mirzaev was born on February 21, 1965. He is an ethnic Uzbek, born in Tashkent. He has higher education; he graduated from the Higher Military-Political Border School of the KGB of the USSR in 1986, and from the Higher School of the KGB of the USSR in 1989. He has been working in state security bodies since 1982. His military rank is Major General.

From 1986 to 1992, Ruslan Mirzaev served in the operational units of the Operational Group of Forces of the Red Banner Central Asian Border District (KSAPO) of the Soviet KGB.

From 1986 to 1992, Ruslan Mirzaev served in the operational units of the Operational Group of Forces of the Red Banner Central Asian Border District of the KGB of the USSR.

From 1992 to 1999, he served in the divisions of the National Security Service of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the Surkhandarya region.

From 1999 to 2002, he served as department head at the Joint Staff of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and then as head of the Main Intelligence Directorate.

In 2002-2005, Ruslan Mirzaev served as Deputy Secretary and Secretary of the National Security Council under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

In 2005-2008, he served as the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

In 2009-2012, he was Deputy Chairman and Commander of the Border Troops of the National Security Service of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

In 2012-2018, Ruslan Mirzaev served in senior positions in the divisions of the National Security Service of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

In 2018-2020, he served as Deputy Chairman and Commander of the Border Troops of the State Security Service of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

Ruslan Mirzaev is a combat veteran, decorated by the state. He is fluent in Russian, Uzbek and Persian.
